I usually carry rebirth on my monk. Just like Killmur said, I can switch weapon slots for the energy boost if needed. Also, I don't use rebirth right away when a teammate dies. A decent monk can assess the battle situation and know if and when to keep healing others vs ressurecting a player. Unless the poop really hits the fan I can usually continue to heal players and then rez when safe. Rebirth comes in so handy when a player dies in too close to a mob.

Ok, my current chara is called Pyro Tekniks Vii. If you see me around, feel free to say hi. I am a bit new to the game, as this is my only chara, which as of yesterday is level 20 and Ascended Anyways, I was out in a group for a mission (forget which one) and one of my teammates dies. I say "what the heck" and use ressurection signet (this guy was our monk, so he obviously couldn't res). He says: OMFG NOOB KEEP NUKING FAG! Then I leave. I go to beetletun and "rape some ettins" so to speak, and get 3 major vigors and a sup rune of smiting. Pwnt?

OK, I just went into Fissure with some PUG. Everything went fine, and we cleaned the area around the tower rather quickly. As we stood by the tower, waiting for the ghost to come up, out only Warrior said: "I'll go, there's nothing decent dropping" (by this time one shard had dropped, for me ) We though it were a joke, since we were just starting anyway, but after we cleaned the tower and finished the quest, he really leaves, followed shortly be one of the Eles.
I can't understand the egoism of some people.

Great stories, guys, this thread always keeps me entertained XD Here's one from me - not necessarily jerkish, but the unnecessary antagonism left a nasty taste in my mouth.
I joined a good team for Thunderhead Keep with my monk a while back - of course, I was slightly biased since my previous effort had involved a team with a couple of uninfused warriors . . . But this team was genuinely pretty skilled and cohesive, and we made it to the keep without a single hitch or death. As the mobs began to swarm the keep, the team kept on top of them, king safe, enemies swiftly and efficiently dispatched. I'd completed this mission with guildies on another character with less ease (sorry guildies, I still love you!). During a lull in the waves, I leapt in with enthused "Wow, this is great! Excellent job, guys!" in team chat.
I was pounced on. Not exactly for being friendly, but a couple of people in the same guild assailed me with a defiant and mighty: "Except we're not ALL guys, you know!". On its own, not a nasty comment, but the support from the person's guild friend made an issue of it that just utterly bewildered me.
Being an owner of le boobies myself, I think I know that not all GW players are men. The users weren't native English speakers, so I like to think in hindsight that they weren't aware that the colloquial use of 'guys' doesn't directly mean 'male persons'. But things like the lack of any response to encouragement and praise from all but a couple of members, and the absence of shared 'good job!'s that always seem to crop up post- and mid-mission in other good, or even bad, jerkless teams left me feeling like I'd played with a team of spiritless jerks who just happened to be good players. Later after that comment I said something like "Good job, guys . . . and gals " to show no hard feelings . . . but, nothing.
I don't judge jerkiness of players by whether they say 'gg' or not - I'm not ~that~ much of an attention RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO that I need to hear it in game. But it's still nice to know your teammates are actual living human beings at other, distant computers, who can equally appreciate fun and clever coooperative gameplaying, as opposed to silent robots >.> If I wanted henchies, I'd bring 'em!

I dont see anything wrong with that, Rebirth is such a skill that you can use all the time, hence unlimited (i.e. not Res Sig). I guess as I said he means he uses monk skill to res and not using res sig.

I think what it means is that any X/Mo should have unlimited rez anyway. I usually take it as a given, and cry myself to sleep when it's not.

lol, in respect to taking permanent res to queen farm.. my monk walks in there with.. a res sig! Permanent res isn't necessary, there's a res schrine nearby and by the time your monk has to rebirth (res), the team is almost dead anyway. The res sig allowes me to pull our tank up to full life and keep protecting/healing him without energy loss due to rebirth, tank having little life due to resurect or.. me being dead because I've become alesia and brought restore life.
Needless to say, I freaked someone out when I used res sig that way, so for next round, had a permanent res on me too, just to keep the team happy knowing their monk had a usless skill

While this is true, res sig is one shot. You may bring them up full health, but next time he dies, you are screwed and have to use the shrine....to which your sig hasn't recharged. Rebirth, while taking your energy, does one very important unique thing that justifies the drawback....teleporting.
Most of the time you aren't resing someone in the middle of a heated battle...at least you shouldn't in most cases as the healer/protector of the group. But whenever I have a character that I switch to secondary monk, I usually do it for just the use of rebirth (see most of the rangers in tombs). What this allows is for a support character to handle some duties and help the monk out.
I will ocassionally res mid battle an important position with my ranger because my energy level recovers quickly and it isn't as important that I have no energy for a brief time instead of my monk. If you are the last survivor in a battle, rebirth allows you to reform saving you often much time retracing steps...and not forcing someone to get DP just because they are the last survior in the clear.
In missions, you don't get res shrines, you only get booted. I have known some monks to carry rebirth AND a res sig for that emergency hard res, but not many that I know would take just sig without a reusable res.

I'm the guy that most people here are posting about. I take offense to the thread.
I should make a "Friendliest Player You Ever Encountered in GW" thread and see how you all like it.

I am a big jerk too. Sometimes, when I am the leader of the party and I don't get my way, I let them die, and I watch them from a distance.
For instance, when I ask someone to drop the sceptre of Orr during battle, I refuse to heal them untill they do. That happens very fast, because all monsters will chase you as long as you hold that staff. When they die, I gloat; "Ah, you finally dropped the staff." And than I stand in its aura to get my share of the extra 10 energy
On the other hand, when I'm not the leader, I don't care what they do with the staff.

My new biggest jerk.
After the b/p group I was in killed the Darknesses in TotPK, 5 people dropped. It was my ranger, another ranger and a necro. So we decide to finish the mission if we can and attack the last group on the left. I had to pull out to self heal. The necro ends up dieing, but between us we managed to kill the dyrder. An ecto drops for the necromancer. The other ranger is like 'Don't rez him and we can split the money!'... meaning he wanted us to leave the one remaining Scythe alive and wait for the ecto to turn into community loot. That's a bonafide jerk right there. I rezzed the necro and then I pulled the Scythe away from the ecto, and then I put el jerko on ignore.

Nice job Edge Martinez, I wish we could make a group in our ignor list with:
1: Scammers
2: Jerks
3: do not go in team with this guys
I made a nice group for fow
me as Necro
2 warrior 2 monk 2 ele 1 mesmer
we all agree, I call and the rest fallow command (btw, I allways pay the cash when I make a group to FoW or UW)
we enter and I see 1 ele with a pet, o_O
ok nothing wrong we have 1 more shield it sucks but we can do it.
I ask every 1 w8 for the patrols and let them go back then I call the target, with this words not out of my mout compleetly the ele attacks and aggro the group, so we all go WTF 1 monk dies but we kill them all.
Next group the same and again and again, we were realy glad that he left with out saying anything after the first quest.

I was down in ToPK a couple of nights ago with my ranger, and ended up in a what seemed to be a great team. We made it to the courtyard with no trouble what so ever, not a single death and it went really fast. But then we came to the middle of that level, where the two wurms and a couple of pop-up groups are, and due to really, really bad agro we faced alot of foes. I saw what was about to happen and stayed as far away as I could, still attacking. The first player to go down was our monk, and after his death the others started to die one by one. When it was only me and another ranger still alive I started running, the other ranger did the same but didn´t make it far. So there I was, the only one alive and a mob chasing me. Then the Jerk, who was the one doing the luring, shows his true personality:
Jerk: OMFG, you stupid n00b, I hate f****** n00bs like you, if you had helped us we would have made it. (apparently he didn´t see that I was fighting as long as I could) I bet that you don´t even have rebirth N00B!! Players like ruin this game.
At this point I was still chased and didn´t have time to respond, and he kept insulting me, so by the time I was in safety I was really pissed. Normaly I just ignore players like this, but he really got to me and I started write down a really pissed off answer. But the other players beat me to it and told him what an idiot he was and that it was thanks to me that we still had a chance to finnish the game. All of the sudden he was really nice and said:
Jerk: Oohh, I´m sorry, I didn´t see that you were fighting, good thing that you ran.
Now, I was still pissed but didn´t want to lower my self to his level, so I simply responded:
Me: What? Did you say anything? I have an anti-IDIOT filter and don´t see what complete JERKS say to me.
I went back and started to rez my teammates, the Jerk the last, off-course.
We finnished ToPK, guess who got the Bulwark. Jerk. Life just isn´t fair.

Jerks have all the luck...
One very jerky thing I did today was start a huge line in Droknar's and have them shout my name, I promised if the party got wild enough,I'd offer them 100k...too bad it didn't :P

Well, finally have one to tell. Ember capping group last night, party of eight, two monks. Get to the very first cap, one monk caps his secondary and leaves. Second boss we hit is a monk boss. Yep, last monk caps and leaves the group. My poor warrior still needs to cap out there... sigh...
